Wedding Card Creativity

Alex and I got so many wedding cards!

They were all so cute, I did not want to throw them away.

I put them in various places all around the house.

1) Here are some in a fun, colorful bowl we received:

2) Here are some more in an Irish bowl we received as a gift (thanks JoAnna and Tony!):

3) When in doubt, FRAME! Some of the cards were so cute, that I thought they were definitely frame-worthy:

4) I bought a nifty magnetic card holder from a boutique in downtown Grand Rapids.  You could so easily make one yourself (thinking about making one for my classroom to hold student work).  They make nice wedding card displays:

There ya have it! Don't throw away your wedding cards or store them away; it is always fun to revisit them and remember that special day.

Amazing Attic Ideas

What to do with our attic?  Right now we use it as a "master suite," although it is very far from a "suite!"  Here is a current picture:
I guess the word for it would be cozy?
So here are some of my inspirations, that I found via Pinterest.(of course!)

Ahh I love this bathroom!

I like the wood floors in the last picture.  The wood on the ceiling and walls is already very comparable to our room now!  I will keep dreaming...maybe one day soon my master suite will happen!

Fab Finds

One thing about me when it comes to home design is that I HATE paying full price.  I find many things at garage sales, goodwill, antique shopping in good, ole' Grand Rapids, etc.  So, here are some of my fab finds:

Coffee table, $30 from garage sale (talked down from $60):

Couch, $80:

Cute, nautical-looking pillow from rustic antique shop in GR:

This was also quite the cute bargain (she just had to be in the spotlight):

Picture over mantel, $2 from garage sale! Matches colors perfectly...

That is just the start of the fab finds! I am always on the prowl.

Chalkboard + Kitchen

My addiction to Pinterest has cost me some time and money lately (okay, it has cost Alex time).  So, browsing Pinterest, I decided I want a chalkboard in my kitchen.  I really like the vintage/country look of a black chalkboard, and I needed a message board of some kind.  Here were my inspirations:

Can I just say, that I LOVE the first kitchen, and the set-up is very similar to ours. Here is my lovely, kitchen chalkboard, complete with notes and even a honey-do-list:

Pretty nifty, huh?

See Ya Summer...

I have finally accepted it (after being back to school for a month).  Summer officially is gone.  Today I packed away all of our summer clothes and exchanged them for fall/winter attire.  I do this because I do not like the clutter of two seasons in one closet- although Michigan is very unpredictable at times!  So here are some summer memories from 2011:

So long summer!

past house updates

So, Alex and I did not like the "peachy" color of our living room.  I really wanted a muted gray/green color for our living room.  Finally, we got around to painting it!  Here is the picture before:

And here is the after:

Are you "green" with envy?  Turned out pretty green, but we like it!  Since Alex works at Ace, our loyalty is usually to Ben Moore products.  This color is the historic Hillside Green.
